Koni Adjustable Miata Shock 1990-1997

Konis are an excellent choice of shock absorber for both street and high performance driving applications such as autocross. Our Koni shock absorbers can be adjusted for height, from stock to about 3/4″ lower, and can also be adjusted for stiffness from “soft” which provides a near stock ride quality to “firm” which is exactly that. You can also adjust them to anywhere in between. KONI street shocks carry a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser for as long as you own the vehicle. Price is per shock. Update the quantity in your cart to 2 for a pair. If you want a full set, order 2 front and 2 rear.

I've been reading the messages at Volvo forums, and many people say the street ride is better with Koni FSD shocks than with Bilstein. I am curious to know if anybody has used the Monroe Sensa-trac shocks, and how they worked out. Should I spend the money (more than 2X more) on the Koni or just get the Monroe. I'm not looking for track performance, I'm looking for good street handling on typical bumpy roads. From my research, Bilstein is out for me, because I don't want a super stiff ride. Does anybody know what kind of shocks originally come on a Volvo S40? (I'm sure they don't make there own.)

To summarize: Should I "spring" for the Koni or cheap out with the Monroe?
I intend on keeping factory springs, factory alloy wheels, and the standard size tires.

Note: Lowering the ride is not an option I have been considering. We get some good snow, and I don't want to be stuck for lack of ground clearance.

monroe sucks. when I installed them on my customers cars, they wern't happy with them.
