One of the many vehicles employed by the German army in WWII was the Volkswagen Type 82E. This automobile combined a sedan body with a Kubelwagen chassis for excellent running performance on rough terrain. Model can be combined with other MM series vehicles or 1/48 scale aircraft, such as one of Tamiya?s Focke-Wulf, Messerschmitt or Dornier type planes, for impressive military dioramas. About the Volkswagen Type 82E Staff Car Entering production just prior to the start of WWII in 1938, more than 20 million models of the Volkswagen ?Beetle? had been built by 2003. Known during the war as the Kdf wagen, the VW came in 3 types: Type 60 civilian sedan, military Type 82E, which featured the Kubelwagen chassis and a sedan body, and military 4WD vehicle Type 87. As many as 546 models of the Type 82E were built between 1941 and 1946. Featuring road clearance 75mm higher than the civilian model, the Type 82E offered improved driving performance. The Volkswagen Type 82E was used as a staff car by many German military and government officials. About the model Detailed 1/48 assembly model kit of the Volkswagen Type 82E. Overall length 80mm. Accurately depicts the distinctively rounded and curved body of the VW Beetle. Model features few parts, allowing easy assembly. Realistic suspension, chassis undersurface and off-road tires. One driver figure included. Choice of 3 sets of markings to depict German military car.

Well, I was driving on an "under construction" highway today and hit a big bump. My car is lowered 2inches with neuspeed springs and Koni shocks. After this happened, the car seemed about 3 inches lower on the drivers side than the passengers, and both back tires were angled inward (they were perfect before-just got an alignment). I checked the shock/springs and saw that the driver's side rear spring was over the socket portion of the shocks. A picture is included. Looks like the spring collapsed onto where the socket is/was. Any advice on what happened and how I can go about fixing it. Also, is it dangerous to drive as is temporarily? I assume so.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
The springs are supposed to have a few coils at the bottom that actually touch, that part is normal. Its possible that the front perch on the LOWER side broke, or the upper mount broke. You should pull off the tire and have a look at what is going on in there. It could be something as simple as the spring is actually dislodged or it could be something broken.
Pull the tires off the front and compare the strut/spring and it should be pretty obvious what is wrong.

I have owned 5 VW's in the past and have had good service and high mileage (highest was a VW Quantum with over 300k) from all of them. The key with VW's is to have a good dealer or a VW mechanic to perform your service at the recommended intervals. As long as you perform your recommended services and use a quality synthetic oil and a Mann filter you should have no significant problems.
What would be the best way to increase the speed in my 99' VW Beetle? What parts would up performance now that the new 5 cylinder 150hp new VW Beetles are around I want my baby to get spruced up. I know it is a weird thing to want a speedy bug, but I was wondering if there was even such a thing as performance parts for a '99 Beetle.
Thanks in advance =)
Any sites with parts would be amazing!!!
Unfortunately the 2.5 L is a new engine, so aftermarket parts are as of yet thin on the ground. The best advice I can give you, is to come to the forum below and ask there. Some wonderful beetle owners there, eager to share their knowledge. No spam, or fees but you'll have to register.
And there's nothing weird about wanting to soup up your buggy! You'll see there's some amazing ones there, some with upwards of 400 hp. Fun place to hang out and get advice. Hope to see you there
