Volkswagen Performance Parts

All Volkswagen Performance Parts, All Discount, All The Time…

im trying to install a performance chip on my 07 Rabbit, i need to connect it between the ECU and the AIR INTAKE TEMPERATURE SENSOR, anyone know where these two parts located in the engine?

first of all, if you got the chip off ebay, throw it away now. those chips just mess with the sensors so you end up just dumping fuel into the engine. there is NO power gain from this. you get what you pay for.
performance chips are usually circuit boards that are soldered to the ECU itself. chips can also involve flashing the ECU without soldering. any chip for a NA engine isnt going to net more than 15 hp anyways. i am currently unaware of any such performance chips for the 07 rabbit.
if the "chip" you are talking about is a long cable with a box at some point along it, don't waste your time. your car will thank me.

I would suggest taking a pass at doing anything like this while the vehicle is in its new car warranty period. The usage of such a device could cause problems with various sensors and also cause the check engine light to come on; if the light came on it has recorded a fault… when you take it to the dealer, he will check it out, if he cannot find a fault, you might have to pay for the diagnosis or worse, if damaged something like the ECU, you might have to pay a large sum of money to replace it. Most updates now in terms of upgrading performance are done thru software updates down loaded into the ROM with the appropriate tool. Chip replacement in most cases, isn't done very often. A good software update can improve performance, fuel economy and more, but it takes someone who understands the vehicle to do this. Also keep in mind that replacement or re-programming a chip/ecu may be illegal and void the emissions warranty and cause the vehicle to fail a smog test. A former VW service employee…
